Waltz, there is no rise and fall on your break step. Leaders: Leads
in Hustle are "body leads". Leading with your arms
results in bad body lines and is uncomfortable to the follower.

On Saturday, March 20th, the CSDS Membership elected our new
2010-2011 Board of Directors at our March dance ~ returning
Directors Mark DeBow, Rebecca Hettig and Larry Saunders, and new
Directors Patrick Keith-Hynes, Diane McDougall, Alise Nielsen and
Terry Pratt. These fine individuals will guide CSDS through
the coming year in hosting our monthly dances, Swing Swap, other
special events, and helping to promote swing dancing
in our local community. Please give them a warm welcome and
thank them for stepping up to the plate to serve on the Board of
Directors. Thanks to their leadership, the rest of us will benefit
greatly.

Officers will be announced after they are elected
at their first Board Meeting in April. As always, CSDS
welcomes YOUR suggestions, ideas and especially any help you are able to
give ~ it could be something as simple as helping out at the door
or helping us set up or clean up. What better way to give back
than offering a few minutes of your time?!
Finally, we'd like to thank Lisa Morales and John Robertson
for their time and effort in heading up the
Nominating Committee. For many years now, Lisa and John
have taken on the task of finding and cultivating prospective
Board members and Lisa has also been our Swing Swap DJ for the last
several years. Thank you, Lisa and John, for all you do!

Easterns Dance Challenge Coming in Late April
Get Ready for Another Dance Event!
Wow, it seems we just recovered from MAD Jam in March and
right on its heels comes another fun dance event! Easterns is from Thursday,
April 29th ~ Sunday, May 2nd (most people arrive on Friday), and is
a fun Swing, Hustle and Country dance event all rolled into one! Come
join the Charlottesville Dance Junkie Crew in a 3-day weekend of
workshops with national pros, competition/performances on all
levels and of course, social dancing until the wee hours of the
morning. If you're even considering going, go ahead and make a
hotel reservation (you can always cancel it later) to get the group rate
(sometimes your Triple A discount is cheaper!) as the hotel often
sells out. And, if you'd like to sit at the
Charlottesville table, email Adela ASAP!! There's no
extra charge and this way, you'll have a reserved seat with the
Charlottesville area gang which is really great during performances and
competition. Any questions, visit the Easterns website or

Highlights from the March Dance
Many thanks to DJ Aidan Keith-Hynes and Al & Alyssa
Lundgren of The Dance Oasis for
teaching the Waltz pre-dance lessons. We look forward to having you
back again! Looking ahead to April, Kristin Wenger returns for
double duty to DJ and teach the pre-dance lessons in West Coast Swing.
