Highlights from
the Holiday Dance
CSDS ended 2009 on a high note with our
annual Holiday Dance at the Municipal Arts Center. A big
"thank you" to DJ Kristin Wenger who also taught the
pre-dance lessons in Nightclub 2-Step. Thanks also to all the
volunteers who set up and cleaned up, and to those who brought goodies to
share! Shoe alert - someone went home with a pair of mis-matched mens size 13
dance sneakers! So guys, if you wear size 13 dance sneakers,
please check to see if your shoes match! If they don't,
contact CSDS!
2010 promises to
be another year of wonderful dance opportunities so mark your
calendars with all the CSDS dance dates which are listed below.
Our
January dance at the MAC marks the DJing debut
of member, Jeff Freeman, at a CSDS dance! Jeff has
been DJing in the Valley for some time now so
we are excited to have him at a CSDS dance. Our pre-dance lessons
are going to be something ..... a little different! What's that?
Different?! YES!! Anyone know the Schottische? The
Traveling Cha Cha? Black Velvet?
They are all progressive couples dances, done in the outside
perimeter of the dance floor, like the Country 2-Step. If you've
been around long enough to have danced at Maxx or Frys Springs, then you may remember doing
these. If not, no problem, as Adela Su and Roger Harris will teach
them to you between 6:30 - 8 pm (see schedule at left).
Looking ahead, in
February, Pro Jason Barnes returns for another fun-filled Workshop
Weekend. Stay tuned for the complete details soon to come!
In the meantime,
the CSDS Board of Directors + Helpers wish you and yours a Happy New Year
full of love, laughter, good friends and of course, lots of dancing!
