Of The Month |
| Competition?!: Do
you want to learn how to dance? Nothing will improve
your dancing more than signing up for a dance
competition! Here are some tips on how competing helps
you improve your dancing:
1) You don't have to be good to
compete; actually it's the reverse: competing is the path the
helps you become good.
2) Competition will teach you the most
important thing you can do is work on better
basics.
3) No other path will develop your skill as
rapidly or as effectively as competing.
Sign up for the next area Pro-Am competition
or find yourself a partner and train with a Coach to compete
on the amateur level. Remember, it's not all about
winning ... "all contestants are winners." Enjoyment and
passion are the purposes for the pursuit .... winning is the
consequence of pursuing the
passion. |

favorite, national pro Jennifer Lyons (aka "Dr. Dance")
returns to give 4 workshops (3 WCS and 1 Hustle) and
attend our catered dinner and dance on Saturday, November 15th
at the Greek Orthodox Church Fellowship Hall located at 100
Perry Drive in Downtown Charlottesville. Workshops will
start at 2 pm and finish up before the dance starts at 8
pm.
Details are being finalized and complete
information and Registration Form will be sent to you as soon
as they are available, so in the meantime, save the
date ~ Saturday, November 15th!!
Jennifer will also be available Friday ~ Sunday to give
Private Lessons by appointment only. Don't delay, book
today! Bring a friend or partner, the cost is the

Highlights from the Halloween
Dance
How about all those incredibly creative
costumes at this year's Halloween Dance?! Every year
they just get better and better. A big thank you to
DJ Ken Roesel and all the volunteers who decorated/set
up/cleaned up for another fun-filled evening. CSDS
Member Eddie Karoliussen took home Best Overall Prize (and
made $15 too!) for his Kissing Booth
costume! In this economy, his wife thinks he should
wear it all the time ;-)

Need to Practice? Come to Swing
Swap!
CSDS hosts a FREE weekly dance practice
called Swing Swap!! If you
are like most, you need to practice what you learn in dance
class in order to retain it. Come on out and practice
your new moves while they are fresh in your mind so they can
become a permanent part of your dance repertoire! Swing
Swap is held on Thursdays* from 7:30 - 9 pm in the Murray High School Gym. DJ
Lisa Morales plays a variety of music ~ East Coast Swing, West
Coast Swing, Hustle, Nightclub 2-Step, Country 2-Step, Cha
Cha, Waltz, etc. Swing Swap is a relaxed and friendly
atmosphere for practice. All are welcome, with or
without partners, any level of experience! Say, did we
mention it's FREE?!
