Members Spotlight
Do you know these
dancers?!
Terri
Saunders - Originally from the Washington,
DC area, Terri has loved to dance since childhood, taking
ballet lessons and dancing the cha cha with her
father as a little girl. She met her husband
Larry 30 years ago at a party at the dance school
where they were both taking disco lessons. Five months
later they performed a Hustle routine at their
wedding that was recorded and is now on Larry's PDA which
he loves to show to anyone who is
interested. After a 25 year break from dancing,
Terri and Larry started taking Salsa lessons here in
Charlottesville and then began swing dancing a
couple of years ago. She loves all the dances but West
Coast Swing and Hustle are her favorites. You'll find her
at just about every Swing Swap and a couple of dances each
month. As a Certified Natural Health Professional and
owner of Sunrise Herb Shoppe, Terri provides natural
health products, consultations and classes on natural healing
with diet, nutritional supplements, herbs, and other
holistic therapies. Her shop was located on the
Charlottesville Downtown Mall for 10 years and is now based
out of her home. Over the years she has appeared on radio
and television and has written several articles on
natural healing which have been published locally, nationally
and internationally, many of which are posted on her website,
Sunrise Herb
Shoppe. Shortly after starting swing dance
lessons, her renewed passion for dance inspired her to
write an article on The Magic Of Dance which covers
the many health and social benefits of dance and is a great
one to share with friends. Terri now recommends dance to all
of her clients as a fun way to exercise and enhance physical
health and emotional well-being.

DJ Stacy Suter kicked off the summer season with some
sizzlin' tunes at the MAC! A big "thank you" to Carly
Dobmeier and Edwin Roa & Amberlyn Sasser for teaching the
pre-dance lessons. Carly, Edwin, Amberlyn and Glenn
Miller also entertained the crowd during the break with
wonderful performances in line dancing, salsa and argentine
tango. Join us on July 19th with
DJ Judy Benter for another fabulous
time!

Coast Swing Abroad
Booty King &
Queen Head To Norway
Eddie Karoliussen and Adela Su travel to
Norway this month to visit Eddie's family and home
country. Some of you may
remember meeting Eddie's parents, Reidar and Sonja,
at Big John's New Year's Eve party ~ they were the ones
tearing up the dance floor! Now you know where Eddie
gets it. Thanks to Facebook, Adela has located a
West Coast Swing club in Oslo where Eddie's parents
live. Stay tuned for a full report and pictures (of
course, the Booty Paparazzi is never without her trusty
camera!) in next month's Newsletter! Ha en god reise

CSDS hosts a FREE weekly
dance practice called Swing Swap*!! If you are like most, you
need to practice what you learn in dance class in order to
retain it. Come on out and practice your new moves while
they are fresh in your mind so they can become a permanent
part of your dance repertoire! Swing Swap is held on
Thursdays* from 7:30 - 9 pm in The Black Box Theater of
Charlottesville High School's Performing Arts Center, located
at 1400 Melbourne
Road at the rear of the school. DJ Lisa Morales plays a variety of music ~ East
Coast Swing, West Coast Swing, Hustle, Nightclub 2-Step,
Country 2-Step, Cha Cha, Waltz, etc. Swing Swap is a
relaxed and friendly atmosphere for practice. All
are welcome, with or without partners, any level of
experience! Say, did we mention it's
FREE?!
