Members Spotlight
Do you know these dancers?!

Kristine Vey - Originally from Poughkeepsie, NY, moved to Charlottesville in 2000 and works at UVa in Facilities Planning & Construction as a Project Manager. Kristine took basic ballroom in the 8th grade, danced with her father all growing up and got serious about dance in 2000 when she moved here with no job and not knowing anyone! She dances anywhere from a couple times a month to six nights a week. Her favorite dances are Hustle and West Coast Swing. Kristine has performed a dance demo with Edwin Roa and is currently a member of the WCS team, The Charlottesville Showdowns. Kristine is very active in her church, serving on the vestry, chairing the adult education commission and ringing handbells! She volunteers all over town including Live Arts, Salvation Army Soup Kitchen, Festival Of The Book, Virginia Film Festival and First Night. Kristine says "I have found the dance community to be warm and welcoming and have found some of my closest friends here. I had no idea so many people danced in a small town until I got here and thanks to Kristin for the Venn diagram early on."

Ron Mauer - Originally from Merrick, NY, has lived in Charlottesville and surrounding counties since 1952 except for 4 years in the Marine Corps. Ron is enjoying lots of free time now, having retired from Sperry Marine last November 30th. Ron started dancing in 1999 and quickly became a favorite with the ladies, known for his pleasant demeanor, gentle leads and patience with beginners. Ron's favorite dances are Country 2-Step, Nightclub 2-Step and West Coast Swing. When Ron isn't dancing, you can find him hanging out on his Nelson County property where he built a tiny efficient house, Sassy Lilac, which includes a solar electric system, raised bed and container gardens. Ron's other interests including thinking out of the box, simple self-sufficient living, Matrix Energetics, learning how to create his own reality, competitive shooting and playing with his website.
Scott Worthington - Also known as Scooter, Dance Junkie and That Guy, was born where Country 2-Step and everything else is SUPER sized and now resides in Earlysville. Scott has always enjoyed music, with his first record album being Wings At The Speed Of Sound (Paul McCartney's band Wings), dancing in clubs as a teen and finally getting into formal dance in October 2006. An IT guy by day and dancer by night, when asked how many nights a week he dances, he replies "That's a silly question .... how many days are in a week?" Scott's favorite dance styles are WCS, Hustle and all of the Latin styles. He competes ProAm with instructor Robin Grimsby and Strictly Hustle with partner Meghan. He owns 3 pairs of dance shoes and sees another pair coming in the very near future! His other hobbies are ...... hey, does he need any other hobbies?! Scott says, "Dancing is a lot of fun. My advice for new dancers - don't ever give up trying because you CAN do it!"
Welcome New Members!
