Time to Elect 2008-2009 Board of Directors!
Cast Your Vote at the March Dance
Yes, it's that time of year again ... time to elect Board Of Directors for 2008-2009! Make your voice heard by attending the March dance to cast your vote. CSDS is an all-volunteer run club governed by 5-7 Board Of Directors whose responsibility it is to conduct club business in a professional manner according to our Bylaws. Once elected, the Board Of Directors choose Officers and divide up the responsibilities and tasks of the Club, of which a description is available here.
Any CSDS member is eligible to run for office. Lisa Morales, John Robertson and Larry Herbert comprise the Nominating Committee. Please contact one of them if you are interested in running or know of someone to suggest.

Weekend Dance Event, Anyone?!
The next regional dance event is the Mid-Atlantic Dance Jam the weekend of March 6th-9th. MAD Jam is a West Coast Swing, Hustle and Hand Dance event put on by dance promoter Dave Moldover (our February dance DJ), featuring 4 days of competition (newcomer to professional), performances, workshops and social dancing until the wee hours of the morning! Not into competing? Not to worry as plenty of folks attend and instead, enjoy watching the competition, taking workshops from National Pros and meeting social dancers from other parts of the country. A strong Charlottesville contingent goes annually with many of our local dancers placing in the competitions. So think about going, expanding your dance horizons and cheering on our local competitors!! |

"Dancing With The Stars" Tour in Richmond
CSDS Member Jay Hearns and his girlfriend Debbie recently participated in "Dancing With The Stars" when the tour stopped in Richmond! They were one of 10 local couples in a dance-off competition featuring Cha Cha and East Coast Swing. While they didn't win, Jay and Debbie received many compliments on their performance and routine and got a big kick out of performing on the stage in front of hundreds of people. Way to go, Jay and Debbie!

Need to Practice?! Come to Swing Swap!!
.. it's FREE ... every Thursday ... no partner necessary ...
CSDS hosts a FREE weekly dance practice called Swing Swap*!! If you are like most people, you need to practice what you learn in dance class in order to retain it. Come on out and practice your new moves while they are fresh in your mind so they can become a permanent part of your dance repertoire! Swing Swap is held on Thursdays* from 7:30 - 9 pm at the Murray High School Gym, located at 1200 Forest Street. DJ Lisa Morales plays a variety of music ~ East Coast Swing, West Coast Swing, Hustle, Nightclub 2-Step, Country 2-Step, Cha Cha, Waltz, etc. Swing Swap is a relaxed and friendly atmosphere for practice. All are welcome, with or without partners, any level of experience!
